“Bijoyer Golpo Boli” – Tales of Victory

Grameenphone launched a campaign Bijoyer Golpo Boli”, that will search out stories of everyday victory by common Bangladeshis. It is felt that Bangladesh moves ahead in leaps and bounds because of small personal victories of the common Bangladeshi, and each small victory has the power to inspire us as a nation.
GP will invite common Bangladeshis to send in their everyday victory stories. Each small victory is a testament to the indomitable spirit of the average Bangladeshi. These small victories have the power to lead us to bigger wins.
After preliminary selection, a number of stories will be selected by a panel of judges comprised of eminent personalities. The objective of the campaign is to collect and collate these experiences into a book to inspire general people with the hidden modern day victories.
Stories are collected through Grameenphone Centers and through e-mail at victory@grameenphone.com. Desh TV is the media partner for the activation.
“Bijoyer Golpo Boli” is a continuation of our endeavour with Prothom Alo on the publication of “Ekatture Chithi” – a compilation of letters of closed ones written during the liberation war collected through a nation-wide drive. “Bijoyer Golpo Boli” will be a compilation of stories of a different victory from a different struggle.
The activation will go through the following steps:
Story Collection:
Stories will be collected throughout December 2009 and January 2010.
Nation-wide caravan activation ran for two weeks and covered educational institutions and public meeting places at 24 district headquarters. Each of the caravans had forum theatre performance to inspire people. There were Brand Promoters who interacted with people and encouraged them to participate in the campaign. They also assisted people to write their stories who were unable to write on their own.
Preliminary Selection:
At this stage a preliminary committee will go through the entries sent. Each entry will be judged on how inspirational and relevant it is to the theme. An entry needs to be both inspirational and true to the “indomitable spirit results in victory” idea for it to be eligible. After completion of a preliminary selection, the stories will then go through a second level selection with a thorough screening process to ensure authenticity. At this stage the stories will be verified.
Final Selection:
The final screening process will include a judges’ panel who will select the top 20/ 30 stories. At this point all the stories have been verified and the only criterion for selection is its relevance to the theme.
The panel of judges’ includes, eminent educationist and writer Professor Dr. Zafar Iqbal; renowned journalist Mr. Nurul Kabir, Editor, the New Age; Magsaysay award-winning cultural activist Ms. Angela Gomes, Executive Editor, Banchte Shekha; eminent cultural activist Mr. Aly Zaker and Dr. Wahidul Islam, Country Director, Sight Savers International.
Book Publication:
These authenticated experiences will then be collated into a book to inspire general people with the hidden modern day victories. Notably each of the stories will be re-written by a writer’s panel and the collection will be then launched through a public-launching ceremony.
Desh TV will develop a documentary series based on the best 10-15 stories, which will be aired on different dates.
The final Date of Submission, January 25, 2010
