Quick Search

Quick Search enables Grameenphone subscribers to execute Internet based searches even if they do not have Internet access in their mobile. Subscribers with Internet access can also use the service through a mobile based Java application.

A user can search for information in following 3 ways:

1. Text Search: Subscribers can search for any information through SMS and in reply user will receive the reply in up to 2 SMS
2. Image Search: Subscribers can perform a search request through SMS and receive the reply in a single MMS
3. Application Search: Both text and image can be searched through a J2ME application. The search result will be received and viewed through the application itself. For this, user will have to keep the Application running.

How to execute search (Direct Search):
a) Information Search: User can type in the word, phrase or names of his/her interest in an SMS and send to a short code (20000). In reply, user will receive a single or multiple SMS as necessary.

b) Image Search: User can search for an image of interest through typing in the word, phrase or name proceeded by the hash (“#”) symbol and send to a short code (20000). For instance, <#><type what you want to search> and send to 20000.

c) Using the Mobile Application to perform Search:User can search for information through a Java (J2ME) application as well. To search information or an image, user will enter the word, phrase or topic of interest and click “Search”. Search result will be displayed in the view pane of the application.

How to download the Application:
To download the application, user will have to type QS and send it to 20000. In reply, user will receive a download link. By clicking the download link, user can download the application. The download is free of charge. But standard data charge will be applicable.
