Grameenphone's HealthLine service re-launched

অক্টোবর ২৩ 2007

The HealthLine Service, a 24-hour Medical Call center of Grameenphone, has been re-launched recently by expanding its capacity and streamlining the process in order to meet the increasing needs of the callers. The HealthLine Service is operated in association with Telemedicine Reference Centre Ltd. (TRCL).

The HealthLine Service is an interactive teleconference between a Grameenphone mobile user and a licensed physician, available round the clock. Grameenphone subscribers may seek medical advice on emergency, non-emergency or regular medical situation by just dialing‘789.'

Apart from the core medical consultation service, a 789-caller will also enjoy additional medical information services; they can avail doctor and medical facility information, drug Information, interpretation of laboratory test reports & data, and emergency support information as supplementary services.

To make the HealthLine Service more accessible and easier to use, the registration requirement has been withdrawn. This means that Grameenphone subscribers simply have to dial 789 to receive the medical advice and consultation service.

The capacity of the HealthLine Call Center has also been successfully increased over the past few months and the physicians at the HealthLine Call Center are presently providing medical advice to about 10,000 callers per day.

The call charge for 789 has remained unchanged at BDT 15 for the first three minutes and BDT 5/minute for every subsequent minute. Non-GP subscribers and non-mobile users will soon be able to avail these services through the Grameenphone Community Information Centers and Village Phones located in rural areas around the country.

It has been seen that the revamp of the HealthLine Service through the re-launch has already added dynamism to this unique health service facility. In Bangladesh there is just about one doctor per 4000 people. The HealthLine Service is designed to provide primary healthcare advice to people in both rural and urban areas.

The Grameenphone HealthLine Service received the GSM Association Award 2007 in the "Best Use of Mobile for Social & Economic Development" category.
