What is eSIM?

eSIM (embedded SIM) is an evolution of the physical SIM card. An eSIM is embedded in a mobile device and can connect you to the operator you chose

How does eSIM work?

The eSIM works the same way as a traditional SIM card, but you don’t need a physical SIM card to use it. It is actually pre-installed in the device and you can activate it by installing an “eSIM profile” on it.

Who are eligible to get an eSIM?

GP prepaid & Postpaid customers(consumer) having eSIM-compatible devices are eligible to use eSIM

Which models support eSIM?

Need to provide drop down button with all model names and this needs to be updated regularly

Can I use the same number simultaneously as eSIM & physical SIM?

NO, one mobile number can be used either as eSIM or physical/Regular SIM at the same time

What will happen to my regular SIM if I switch to eSIM?

Your regular number will be disabled as soon as you convert to eSIM

What will happen to my current package and balance?

Every features will remain as same as your previous package & balance

Where to buy an eSIM?

"For obtaining a new GP eSIM connection

  1. Customer needs to visit the nearest GP Expereince centers (Dhaka & Chattrogram) with their eSIM supported devices, fulfil the regular SIM purchase process and request for an eSIM.
  2. Visit GP Online shop and request for an eSIM by following the step by step process of SIM purchase."

What are the things required to activate eSIM?

"After competing all the required SIM purchase and biometric processes, the following things are mandetory to activate eSIM

  1. 1. An eSIM enabled Device where customer wants to activate the eSIM
  2. A workable camera of that device to scan the QR code
  3. An active internet connection (mobile data or WiFi) "

What is QR code for eSIM

A QR code contains all required SIM information(ICCID, KIT number etc.) of a MSISDN which were previously available in the phsycial SIM

Why do I need to scan the QR code

As QR code contains all informaitons of the MSISDN, it is must to scan the QR code with the specific eSIM enabled handset where one wants to use the eSIM

Can I reinstall an eSIM?

eSIMs cannot be reinstalled, which means that if you remove your eSIM you may encounter an error when trying to download it again.

Can I remove an eSIM from my device?

"Please note you cannot reinstall an eSIM on your device once it has been deleted. You can delete the eSIMs you will no longer use or temporarily disable an eSIM in your device’s settings."

"Other Important Points for activating your eSIM"

  1. "The QR code is unique and is applicable for just one time use on one device only. Once scanned, please ensure you complete the process of adding the Carrier.
  2. Customer should not select ""Delete"" option from the eSIM settings as this will permanently delete the eSIM profile"

Is eSIM supported on my Apple or Samsung Watch?

No, at this moment, GP provides eSIM support for Smartphone only.

What are the methods/options to get GP eSIM

"For obtaining a new GP eSIM connection, customer needs to visit the nearest Grameenphone Center with there eSIM supported device, fulfil the KYC requirements and request for eSIM.

You will need to provide your Proof of Identity and address to complete the KYC requirements.

The list of documents for a new connection remains the same as applicable for a physical SIM based connection."

How is the eSIM different from the physical SIM?

eSIM can save multiple phone numbers which you can add, delete and configure right from your Phone’s settings.

Can I add multiple eSIM accounts on my Phone?

Yes, you can add multiple eSIM accounts on your phone. However, only one can be active at a time.

Will all my current services work if I replaced my physical SIM with the eSIM?

Yes, all of your existing services and tariffs will exist on your new eSIM.

Can I still use the physical SIM after I activated my eSIM?

After eSIM activation, your physical SIM for same number will be de-activated. You can use the physical slot for another mobile number if you want. You can use the physical slot for another mobile number if you want.

What happens when I factory reset? will I lose my eSIM activation?

Yes, your eSIM activation on your phone will be lost, and you will need to visit Grameenphone Center, Franchise or eligible retailer again to reactivate your subscription to the eSIM and to get a new QR code.

Can I cancel my eSIM and return to the physical SIM?

Yes, you can always replace your eSIM with the traditional physical SIM, by visiting any Grameenphone Center, Franchise or eligible retailer. Standard SIM change charges will apply.

What do I need to do if I lose my QR Code?

If you lose your QR Code before scanning it, please call 111 or visit any Jazz Experience Center outlet to deactivate it, to avoid someone else scanning this code.

What is the ios version required to get e-SIM service?

For Apple devices eSIM is supported on iOS version 12.1 or higher, please upgrade to latest software version on these eligible handsets and make it eSIM ready.

How can I enable 4G on eSIM?

Click on "Settings" > Select "Mobile Data" > Select "eSIM Profile" > Click on "Enable 4G" > Select "Data only" or "Voice & Data" as your preference > Ensure "Turn on this line" is active

How can I do a manual network selection?

Click on "Settings" > Select "Mobile Data" > Select "eSIM Profile" > Click "Turn on this line" & Click on "Network Selection" > Turn off "Automatic" selection and wait for available networks > Select IND Airtel from available networks & Turn on "Automatic" network selection.

How can I select eSIM for data?

Click on "Settings" > Select "Mobile Data" > Click on "Mobile Data" > Select "eSIM Profile" > Ensure "Data Roaming" is On

How can I select eSIM for voice calls?

Click on "Settings" > Select "Mobile Data" > Click "Default Voice Line" > Select "eSIM Profile"

How can I temporary disable my eSIM?

Click on "Settings" > Select "Mobile Data" > Select "eSIM Profile" > Disable "Turn off this line"

How can I permanently remove my eSIM?

Click on "Settings" > Select "Mobile Data" > Click on "eSIM Profile" > Select "Remove Data Plan" > Click on "Remove Operator Plan"

What is the android version required to get e-SIM service?

For Samsung devices, please upgrade to latest software version on these eligible handsets and make it eSIM ready.

How can I enable 4G on eSIM?

Click on "Settings" > Select "Connections" > Click on "Mobile Networks" > Click on "Network Mode" > Select "LTE/3G/2G (Auto Connect)"

How can I do a manual network selection?

Click on "Settings" > Select "Connections" > Click on "Mobile Networks" > Click on "Network Operators" > Click on "Select Manually" > Select "Grameenphone"

How can I select eSIM for data / voice calls / sms?

Click on "Settings" > Select "Connections" > Click on "Sim Card Manager” > Under the Preferred Sim Card option Select eSIM for Calls, Text & Mobile Data

How can I temporary disable my eSIM?

Click on "Settings" > Select "Connections" > Click on "Sim Card Manager” > Click on "eSIM Profile" > Swipe Left to Disable

How can I permanently remove my eSIM?

Click on "Settings" > Select "Connections" > Click on "Sim Card Manager” > Click on "eSIM Profile" > Click on “Remove” > Click on “Reset”
