Grameenphone holds “Digital Entrepreneurship Workshop” at Chattogram

Grameenphone Ltd. today arranged a daylong “Digital Entrepreneurship Workshop” for the youth of Chattogram to develop and nurture their entrepreneurial spirit. Students of different universities and young entrepreneurs of Chattogram attended the workshop.

This workshop was part of Grameenphone’s effort to engage different stakeholders in Chattogram to build awareness around digital transformation happening around the globe.

The workshop was specially designed to educate the young participants about the potentials of digital entrepreneurship and what it takes to become a successful digital entrepreneur. The interactive sessions were conducted by resources from Grameenphone’s Digital Team and GP’s innovation-enabling platform, Whiteboard. The participants also had the opportunity to present their ideas and solutions to different Chattogram specific problems after group brainstorming sessions.

Mohammad Elius Hossain, Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate of Chattogram, who was present at the closing ceremony as chief guest, handover the certificates to the socially conscious, passionate and energetic participants. Dr. Amir Mohammad Nasrullah, Professor & Chairman of Public Administration Dept, Chattogram University was the special guest at the program. Grameenphone’s Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer (CSTO) Kazi Mahboob Hasan and Head of Chittagong Circle, Shaon Azad were also present on the occasion.

Mohammad Elius Hossain, Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate of Chattogram said, “Only the brave can become entrepreneur. It needs courage to become one. We in government need more new applications to make public administration easier. Youth can help us with their small initiatives.”

Speaking on the occasion Kazi Mahboob Hossain said, “Bangladesh’s is well poised to reap the benefits of its digital journey, but the country needs all the help from the innovators and entrepreneurs to make this journey beneficial for the people. We are interested in grooming a new breed of digital entrepreneurs, who can help us to build a digital ecosystem, which is essential for the success of digitalization of the country.”

Naim Uddin, a student of Chattogram University and a participant of the workshop applauded Grameenphone’s effort in arranging the workshop. He said, “This is exactly the kind of support the socially conscious youth of Chattogram need. We certainly do have some challenges in Chattogram but today’s session has taught us how we can use a digital entrepreneurial mindset and innovative tools and methods to address these issues.”

Last year, Grameenphone arranged a panel discussion titled ‘Digital Development: Road to Empowerment’ at Chattogram with prominent business leaders, trade bodies, academia and media personalities. Grameenphone already has platforms in place that can support young entrepreneurs; notable among them are GP Accelerators and White Board. The company also arranges programs like Telenor Youth Forum and Digital Winners with Telenor Group to develop youth leadership.
