  • 1.How I Can Select the Correct Handset for Using International Roaming Service?

    The network type (GSM 900/1800/1900/Others) your handset supports must be compatible with the network type of the visiting network. You can check the network types your handset supports from the following link: www. gsmarena.com.You can check the network type of your visiting operator from the following link:

    GP International Roaming Partners (GSM).

    Most of the GP's Roaming Partner operators are GSM 900 or 1800. But there are some exceptions such as GSM 850 or 1900 network in North American countries, iden for Nextel, USA, 3G in Japan etc. If your current handset doesn't support this type of network, you can buy or rent (from respective airport) appropriate handset for using in these operators' networks.

  • 2.How I Can Select a Network for Roaming While Traveling Abroad?

    While traveling abroad, you can select network in two ways:

    If a Network Selection' or a Operator Selection' option of your handset is set as a Automatic', your handset will automatically select the strongest network available in that particular place. While you are moving, your handset may change or switch network automatically depending on network strength of that particular area.

    If a Network Selection' or a Operator Selection' option of your handset is set as 'Manual', you can select any one the available networks in the following way:

    • Go to the "Network Selection", "Phone Setup" or "Settings" option menu (depending on your handset model)
    • Press "Search" & your handset will search for the available networks (this may take few minutes)
    • Available networks will be shown in the display.
    • Select the network you wish to use and stay connected.
  • 3.How I Can Make Voice Calls While Roaming Outside Bangladesh?

    For making Voice Calls while roaming in a Foreign Operator's Network, use the following procedure:

    Making Calls to Mobile Phone of the Visiting CountryDial the Desired Mobile Number
    Making Calls to Land (Area) Phone of the Visiting CountryDial Area Code then the Desired Number
    Making International CallsDial International Access Code ('+' or '00'), then Destination Country Code and then Desired Number Note: International Access Code may differ (other than + or 00) in some countries
    Making Calls to BangladeshDial International Access Code ('+' or '00'), then 88 0 and Desired Number (with Area Code if calling an Land / Area Phone) Example: To Call a Mobile Phone of Bangladesh, Dial  + 88 0 17 XXXXXXXX  or 00 88 0 17 XXXXXXXX To Call a Land / Area Phone of Dhaka, Bangladesh, Dial  + 88 0 2 XXXXXXX or 00 88 0 2 XXXXXXX Note: The first '0' of the Mobile Number or Area Code is not used after the Country Code of Bangladesh 88 0.

     

  • 4.How much will I be charged for calling to Bangladesh?

    We have now made it easier for our valued roaming subscribers (postpaid only) by introducing simpler roaming tariff “One Country, One Rate”. For detailed tariff rates, please check the Tariff and Coverage page.

  • 5.What Countries/Operators have different International Access Code and What are the Codes?

    Most of the country's Int'l Access Code is '+' or '00'. See the following table for a detail list of countries where you will need to use a different Int'l Access Code for making Int'l Calls:

  • 6.How I Can Send SMS (Short Message Service) While Roaming Outside Bangladesh?

    For sending SMS while roaming in a Foreign Operator's Network, use the following procedure:

    You can send SMS in the same way you do while in Bangladesh.

    You must entry the recipient's mobile number in the international format (International Access Code '+' or '00' then Country Code and Mobile Number (Omitting the first zero).

    For example, if you want to send an SMS to the GP mobile 017 XXXXXXXX, you should enter the number as + 88 0 17XXXXXXXX. For sending SMS while roaming abroad, your SMS Center Number must be saved in International format.

    Once you save the SMS Center Number in your handset in International format, it remains in that format. You don't have to change it for local use or any roaming use in a different country afterwards.

  • 7.What is Grameenphone's SMS Center Number and How Can I Save It in International Format?

    Grameenphone SMS Center number in Int'l Format is + 88 017 00000600 or 00 88 017 00000600

    You can set your SMS Center Number in Int'l Format in the following procedure:

    Message > Message Settings > Message Sending Profile > Message Center Number

    (Option names may vary depending on handset model)

    Please note that if your SMS Center Number is not saved in International Format, you can receive SMS while roaming but you can't send any SMS.

  • 8.How can I make voice calls while roaming in Bangladesh?

    For making Voice Calls while roaming in Grameenphone Network use the following procedure:

    Making Calls to Mobile Phone of BangladeshDial the Desired Mobile Number Example: 017xxxxxxxx
    Making Calls to Land (Area) Phone of BangladeshDial Area Code then the Desired Number Example: 02 9882990

  • 9.How I can send SMS (Short Message Service) while roaming in Bangladesh?

    You can send & receive text messages (SMS) to any local mobile phone and to foreign operator's (International) mobile phones who are Roaming Partners of Grameenphone (conditions apply). To send message, follow the below procedure:

    Select WRITE NEW (depends on handsets) from Message option

    Type your text message

    Type the desired recipient's number or insert from phone's address book.

    Send message by selecting the OK/SEND option.

  • 10.What is SMS Roaming?

    International roaming service without the VOICE facility is called 'SMS Roaming'. With this service, the subscriber can send/receive SMS while traveling abroad; however, VOICE call facilities will be barred while roaming.

  • 11.Can both Pre-paid and Post-paid subscribers enjoy SMS roaming?

    Yes, both pre-paid and post-paid subscribers are eligible to opt for this service.

  • 12.How can I register for SMS Roaming?

    Step 1: You need a Grameenphone post paid connection with ISD facility and an International Credit/Debit Card in your own name. No Security Deposit or Monthly fee is required for SMS Roaming.

    Step 2: You can go to any Grameenphone Center or Grameenphone service desk near your locality with the following papers to register for SMS Roaming service:

    • 1. Photocopy of your International Credit/Debit Card (both sides)
    • 2. Photocopy of original subscription form
    • 3. Photocopy of the first 7 pages of Passport
    • 4. Two copy passport-size photographs

    Step 3: Properly fill up and sign the International Roaming Form (available in all International Roaming sales points). If the documents submitted are acceptable, you will be registered for the service.

    Note: Auto-debit from your credit card account has to be authorized for SMS Roaming subscription.

  • 13.What will be my credit limit for using SMS Roaming?

    Usage limit /credit limit for SMS Roaming usage will be BDT 1000.00 (for subscribers who have Zero '0' security deposit for SMS Roaming). Extra security deposit can be paid through your Int'l Debit/Credit card for SMS Roaming Usage.

  • 14.How can I use SMS Roaming?

    First of all, make sure your SMS Center number is set in International format which is: +8801700000600 or 008801700000600

    Once GP postpaid subscriber has registered for SMS Roaming, s/he has to activate the service every time s/he goes abroad. Please follow these steps--

    • Step 1: Complete all your voice calls.
    • Step 2: Go to your handset's New Message option
      Type/write 'SRon'
      Send to 7000
    • Step 3: You will be notified of your service status by return SMS. If successfully done, your incoming and outgoing voice-calls will be deactivated within a few minutes and you will be ready to enjoy SMS Roaming during your travel.
  • 15.How much do I have to pay for using SMS Roaming?

    For sending SMS, charges will be as follows :
    Foreign operator's SMS charge + 15% service charge
    VAT is applicable for sending SMS.
    For receiving SMS, the charges will be Absolutely Free.

  • 16.How can I make and receive voice calls after coming back to Bangladesh?

    After coming back to Bangladesh, to make or receive voice calls again, you have to activate it in the following way (applicable only for the postpaid subscribers):

    Step 1: Go to your handset's New Message option
    Type/write 'SRoff'
    Send to 7000

    Step 2: You will be notified of your service status by return SMS. If successfully done, your incoming and outgoing voice-calls will be activated within a few minutes and you will be able to make and receive voice calls.

    The BDT 1000.00 amount (credit limit over security deposit) is applicable for both local and Int'l roaming usage
    You have to reactivate your voice call facilities after coming back to Bangladesh after using SMS Roaming
    Standard SMS charge is applicable for activating/deactivating SMS Roaming
    All incoming and outgoing voice calls will be barred after activating SMS Roaming
    You can deactivate SMS Roaming any time from any place
    Grameenphone prepaid roaming subscribers do not need to send any SMS to 7000 port to activate SMS roaming service. For prepaid roaming it will be automatically active while roamig outside Bangladesh
    EDGE/GPRS Roaming will be barred after activating SMS roaming

    You can enjoy all the benefits of EDGE/GPRS services you can avail in your home network. You can also access the contents provided by your home network. But you will not be able to use the EDGE/GPRS contents that Grameenphone provides to its local subscribers. services you can avail in your home network.     What is Grameenphone EDGE/GPRS Roaming Service?

    EDGE (Enhanced Data Rates for Global Evolution) is an advanced mobile technology and enables you to use high speed mobile internet and data services. Grameenphone launched EDGE/GPRS Roaming services for the first time in Bangladesh in Sep 2005.

    What can i do with Grameenphone EDGE/GPRS Roaming Service?

    EDGE/GPRS Roaming will allow you to use the following services even while traveling abroad:
    Browse Internet with your mobile phone.
    Send and receive Emails with your mobile phone.
    Send and Receive Multimedia Messages (with picture, sound, video clip, text) to & from other Grameenphone subscribers.
    Download contents - high quality ring tones, wallpapers, songs, movie clips, videos, animated logos, themes and many more.

    Note:
    All other facilities (Voice calls and SMS) that an international roaming subscriber could avail in GSM Roaming service will remain unchanged.
    EDGE/GPRS roaming services can only be used in those foreign operator's networks with which Grameenphone has commercially launched the service.
    Your handset has to be compatible with the features to use the EDGE roaming services.
    You will be able to receive your voice calls while browsing or downloading contents. Once the call is ended, your data transfer will resume automatically (depending on Handset Feature).
    You will not be able to use EDGE/GPRS roaming when availing SMS Roaming only.

    What I will need to avail Grameenphone EDGE/GPRS Roaming Services?

    If you are already an International Roaming Subscriber of Grameenphone, you need to:

    1. Subscribe for Grameenphone EDGE Services and
    2. Use a handset that supports EDGE and is configured to Grameenphone EDGE Network

  • 19.How can I avail the Service?

    To avail Prepaid International Roaming service, a GP subscriber needs to contact Grameenphone Centers throughout the country. International Business, Business Segment, Brands, Commercial Division can also be contacted.

    Signed Corporate, Business Solution Client of Grameenphone has to contact the responsible Key Account Manager / Account Manager of Grameenphone assigned for her/his organization. She/he will arrange the rest for you.

  • 20.What are the requirements for Pre-paid standard roaming?

    To avail Grameenphone's International Roaming service the requirements are:

    • A Grameenphone Prepaid subscription with ISD connectivity
    • An International Credit Card with at least 6 month's validity
    • Properly filled and signed International Roaming Form (Prepaid)
    • Copy of subscription paper of the Prepaid subscription with ISD facility
    • Both side photocopy of International Credit Card
    • Photocopy of first five pages of International Passport of the subscriber
    • Two copies of passport size photograph of the subscriber

    Paper Requirement for Company (not signed corporate client) Subscribers:

    • Properly filled and signed International Roaming Form (Prepaid)
    • Copy of subscription paper of the Prepaid subscription with ISD facility
    • Both side photocopy of International Credit Card (in user's name)
    • Photocopy of first five pages of International Passport of the user
    • Two copies of passport size photograph of the user

    Paper Requirement for Signed Corporate Subscribers:

    • Properly filled and signed International Roaming Form (Prepaid)
    • Copy of subscription paper of the Prepaid subscription with ISD facility
    • Both side photocopy of International Credit Card (in user's name)

    N.B. The terms & conditions and the features stated in the Subscription agreement for International Roaming between GP and subscriber (Roaming Agreement) will have applicability in providing all services under the IR facility.

  • 21.What is the minimum recharge amount to enjoy Pre-paid Standard Roaming?

    Minimum recharge amount at the first time for availing Standard Pre-paid Roaming is USD 25, from next on USD 10
