A media session, in connection with the Grameenphone-BCB Pacer Hunt Pace Camp, was organized on June 26 with Mr. Aqqib Jaaved Coach, National Cricket Academy, Pakistan and Former Fast bowler of Pakistan.
The session, organized at the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan (BKSP), allowed journalists, from the print and electronic media, and photojournalist to discuss with the former fast-bowler the progress of the fast-bowlers at the camp and the future prospects of Bangladesh with fast-bowling.
Aaqib Javed is currently conducting a training for the bowlers of the ongoing Grameenphone Pacer Hunt Phase Three Camp at the BKSP.
Khaled Mahmud, Operations Manager, Grameenphone BCB National Cricket Academy and Mir Nawbut Ali, Head of Market Communication, Commercial Division was present on behalf of Grameenphone. Golam Faruque Suru, Senior Coach, Grameenphone BCB National Cricket Academy, was also present on the occasion.
The Grameenphone Pacer Hunt is a talent hunt program, conducted by the Bangladesh Cricket Board, to discover young aspirant fast-bowlers from all over the country. The hunt provides aspirant bowlers an equal platform for a chance to become the next fast-bowler to represent Bangladesh on the World stage.
The first phase of the pacer hunt was conducted throughout the country in 11 locations, starting on the 7th of February, 2007. The second phase involved a specialized camp for the identified bowlers in Dhaka from 20-29 April.
The third phase is now being held at BKSP from 16-28 June to evaluate the bowlers from the camp. Grameenphone has brought Mr. Aqib Javed to provide his valuable insight on fast-bowling to the fast-bowlers at the camp.
The top bowlers from this hunt will be nurtured under different BCB conducted programs that involves extensive training. The last batch of successful pacer hunt bowlers was sent to the MRF pacer academy and is still under supervision from BCB.
