Grameenphone Accelerator is organising a pitching event for 12 local digital entrepreneurs at GP House on 12 June 2017 to select the best of the startups from Bangladesh, to join the Digital Winners Asia (DWA) in Singapore.
Startups, investors and media are invited to register to witness this exciting event online via https://goo.gl/Ai7p9c. A high level jury panel comprising of leading investors, corporate leaders and startup advisors will hear 12 pitches and recommend the top team(s) to Singapore. The Digital Winners Asia event is a competition among the startups from Telenor-wide accelerator participants.
The focus of the Digital Winners Asia is to support local startups to expand regionally. The winning team will receive an expansion fund of worth 100,000 Norwegian Kroner or approximately BDT 10 lakh. This is a platform created by the Telenor Group for its accelerators in Asia in countries like Bangladesh, Thailand, Pakistan, Malaysia and Myanmar. Grameenphone Accelerator participants are participating in the event for the second year.
Expressing his excitement about the event, Grameenphone CEO Michael Foley said, “We are excited to invite the whole of the startup community in Bangladesh to watch as Grameenphone Accelerator startups pitch for a place on the world stage. It will be a fun event and I look forward to interacting with a host of key startup community members on the day.”
Startups enthusiasts are invited to GP House to attend the Bangladesh selection event, which has been designed to be highly interactive. The audience will not only have a chance to listen to the team’s pitch but will also contribute to the jury process by voting “yes” or “no” live during the pitches.
This year Telenor Group has signed up a partnership with Slush Singapore, a student-driven non-profit movement that facilitates founder and investor meetings. The Digital Winners Asia event is scheduled for September alongside the globally acclaimed Slush Startup conference in Singapore. This alignment will enable all participating startups to potentially pitch at the Slush main event, meet a global roster of investors and international startup peers in addition to being able to pitch to a DWA panel at Telenor Group regional office in Singapore.
