GP arranged workshop on Electronic Fund Transfer

Grameenphone organized a workshop for representatives of all major banks, insurance companies and its business partners titled‘Electronic Funds Transfer Network’ which was held at GPHouse, on 16 June 2011.

Mr. Raihan Shamsi, Deputy Chief Executive Officer (DCEO) and Chief Finance Officer (CFO) of Grameenphone inaugurated the session and congratulated the central bank for its remarkable step towards digitalization of payment backbone of the country.  He said, “This recent development in the payment platform arena can facilitate Grameenphone, managing the voluminous and widest payment throughout the country, with a speedy fast, safe and secure money transfer without using cash or paper based instruments”. He also reiterates that Grameenphone is always committed to make things easy for its stakeholders through user-friendly experience.

Mr. Chowdhury Mohidul Haque, Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank appreciated the knowledge sharing initiatives of Grameenphone among the business house stakeholders and banking communities. He said, “Bangladesh Electronic Fund Transfer Network (BEFTN) is playing a significant role in the present and future national economic development and GDP growth of the country”.

Mr. Mainur Rahman Bhuiyan, Head of Corporate Finance and Treasury of Grameenphone, highlighted that modernizing the payment system to electrical funds transfer will bring efficiency and passion in the working capital management of any business house.

The citi N.A, Standard Chartered and HSBC shared their glimpses on the best practices in Asia, Bangladesh position and opportunities of leveraging BEFTN.


Mr. Saiful Islam, Head of Payment Management of Grameenphone and other high officials of major banks and insurance companies, among others, were present on the occasion.
