GP signs agreement with Education ministry to provide internet modem for Educational Institutions

Grameenphone Limited today signed an agreement with the “ICT for Education Project’, Ministry of Education for Supply, Service and Installation of 20,500 Internet Modem with connectivity” to set up multimedia classrooms for secondary and higher secondary educational institutions.

Mr. A. K. Azad, Project Director of the ICT for Education Project, and Mr. Tor Harald Stromsnes, Head of Direct Sales of Grameenphone signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organization.

Honorable minister for Education Mr. Nurul Islam Nahid was present at the signing ceremony as the chief guest held at Hotel Ruposhi Bangla in the city.

Among others, Education Secretary Dr. Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury, Mr. Md. Nazrul Islam Khan, Secretary, Ministry of Information & Communication Technology, Grameenphone's Chief Executive Officer Tore Johnsen and other senior officials were also present at the signing ceremony.

The Ministry of Education, as part of the government's vision to implement a‘Digital Bangladesh’ by 2021, launched the flagship project called‘ICT for Education in Secondary and Higher Secondary Level’ to digitalize and modernize the learning method in the class room through internet. Under the project 20,500 Internet Modem, Laptops, Speakers and Multimedia projector will be provided to 20,500 Education Institutions across Bangladesh.

The objective of this project is to set up a multimedia class room where the students will learn through audio-visual and enhance knowledge through using the internet.

With this agreement, Grameenphone also once again shows its commitment and dedication to work for the development of the country's education sector.
