Grameenphone donates computers to Directorate General of Health Services of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare
Grameenphone Ltd. handed over 200 computers to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on October 14, 2010 in a simple ceremony held at GPHOUSE.
The computers will be used to digitize the Health Management Information System (HMIS) and providing e-health service to the people.
Oddvar Hesjedal, CEO of Grameenphone handed over the computers to Prof. Dr. Kh. Md. Shefyetullah, Director for Medical Education and Additional Director General (admin) In-Charge and Prof. Dr. Abul Kalam Azad, Director, Management Information System of Directorate General of Health Services. They represented Prof. Dr. Shah Monir Hossain, the Director General of Health Services.
Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is currently working to implement the computer-based health information system for gathering data from rural and other levels to central and sub-national levels. Information technology is also being scaled up to provide health services to the people by a means called e-health. The computers provided by Grameenphone are expected to contribute greatly to these efforts of the Ministry.
Success of this initiative will help the current government's effort to create a Digital Bangladesh. Grameenphone as a development partner of Bangladesh is happy to provide some help to this important initiative.
All the computers have Pentium IV processors, 1 GB RAM and 80 GB hard disk. They also have flat TFT monitors with Windows XP operating system.
