Grameenphone has launched a new intiative today (March 26, 2012) that will enable all Opera Mini users to access all the articles of Bangla Wikipedia just by pressing on the respective icon of their browser home screen.

Opera Mini users will see the new speed dial after logging in from today. Subscribers with the old version of Opera Mini are requested to download the new version from http://mini.opera.com/gp or can directly go to Mobile version of Bangla Wikipedia by typing http://bn.m.wikipedia.org.

The leading mobile phone operator has taken up this initiative with the aim to spread the power of knowledge and promote Bangla version of Wikipedia, one of the biggest sources of online knowledge.

Grameenphone has already signed a 3-year partnership with Wikipedia to provide an easy access to the online knowledge base for all their valued subsribers.

At present, there are more than 23,000 articles in Bangla Wikipedia which have been written by some dedicated volunteers who actively work towards enriching Bangla Wikipedia with quality articles.

It is expected that this new initiative will encourage the local Wikipedians to contribute more and augment the process of establishing Bangla Wikipedia as the biggest source of knowledge in our native language.

Last year, Grameenphone launched the Internet Utshab spreading the power of internet amongst the youth and with this new initiative Grameenphone wants to live up to this commitment by spreading the power of knowledge.
