Grameenphone today inaugurated Vessel Tracking System for Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) at Grameenphone Head quarter.

Through this innovative system, BIWTC will be able to track their Water Vessels like Ferry, Streamer & Tug. This is a unique initiative by GP & BIWTC to ensure better customer experience and enhance operational excellence of all Water Vessels of BIWTC. With this initiative, Grameenphone once again proved its commitment and dedication to work for the development of the country through continuous innovation.

Mr. Shajahan Khan, Minister of Shipping; Mr. Mojibor Rahman, Chairman of BIWTC, Allan Bonke, Chief Marketing Officer and Mahmud Hossain, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer of Grameenphone along with other high officials were present during the inauguration program.

Allan Bonke, Chief Marketing Officer of Grameenphone said, “Rivers have always played a dominant role on the economy, society & culture of Bangladesh. Through this initiative Grameenphone would be able to build a strong river network that will bring positive impact on the society.” He also added, “This tracking system will not only be helpful for BIWTC to increase their operational excellence but also will provide significant support during the crucial times like natural disasters.”

BIWTC is a service oriented commercial organization in the public sector which plays a vital role in the inland and coastal water ways by carrying passengers, cargo and vehicles.  It is expected that Vessel Tracking System will revolutionize the whole monitoring concept of water vessels & soon will be a driving force towards Digital Bangladesh.
