Grameenphone Ltd. has recently initiated some services to benefit the pilgrims at the permanent Hajj Camp in Dhaka.
A medical booth, a phone booth, three water purifiers and a Flexiload counter have all been installed at the Hajj Camp.
An MOU has been signed in this regard with the Hajj Camp authorities recently. Mr. Md. Bazlul Haque Biswas, Deputy Secretary and Hajj Officer, Ministry of Religious Affairs, and Tania Ahmed, Additional General Manager, Brands of Grameenphone, signed the MOU on behalf of their respective organizations. Abu Mamun Hashmee, DGM, Regulatory and Corporate Affairs, and other senior officials of Grameenphone were present on the occasion.
The Grameenphone medical service booth is open round-the-clock for free treatment and emergency assistance at the Hajj Camp. Two doctors (one male and one female) are on duty to handle any medical emergency. The medical booth is also adequately supplied with basic medicines. In addition, an ambulance is also available at the site at all times. Grameenphone also presented 5500 packets of essential medicine to the Hajj Camp authority.
Furthermore, Grameenphone has set up a phone booth. Five mobile phone lines remain open at the phone booth all hours of the day, enabling the pilgrims to make free local calls. The company has also installed a Flexiload counter for the convenience of the pilgrims.
Meanwhile, for the first time in Bangladesh, Grameenphone has introduced the International Roaming service for Pre-paid subscribers for use during their stay in Saudi Arabia in addition to the post-paid roaming. Any Grameenphone Pre-paid subscriber with ISD connectivity (Smile PSTN; Business Solutions Prepaid and Djuice with ISD Connectivity) can avail this International Roaming service without any subscription fee or security deposit. However, the subscriber will have to register at any Grameenphone Center to avail the service.
Currently the International Roaming service for pre-paid subscribers is limited only to Saudi Arabia, but gradually Grameenphone Pre-paid subscribers will be able to avail International Roaming in other major destinations as well.
