Siddiqur Rahman who has played 30 national and international tournaments as an amateur golfer so far has won 17. He has previously played international tournaments in India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, and Pakistan, etc. Rahman is the only golfer to have won golf trophies in all SAARC countries.

Grameenphone has been sponsoring Siddiqur Rahman since 2004 when he played amateur golf, and has contributed to building a solid base for his success. Grameenphone has previously sponsored a 3-month long Golf Training Program in Australia.

Siddique, born in 20th November, 1984, is the third among four brothers. He started his golf club days as a ball boy, one of the junior caddies who carried bags for the members of the Kurmitola Golf Club (KGC). Seeing talent inside Siddique, KGC officials used to lend him clubs to practice - this was the beginning of his golfing career.

The KGC first took initiative to develop him by providing him with a corporate sponsorship back in 2002. Subsequently Grameenphone began sponsoring him from 2004.

Today Siddique is one of the most promising golf stars in the region. He will also be playing tournaments in Malaysia, Singapore, and Pakistan next year. His ultimate dream is to play in the prestigious US PGA.

Grameenphone has been a chief patron of Golf in Bangladesh for almost a decade. The country's largest golf tournament i.e. the President's Cup Tournament has been sponsored by Grameenphone for the last 5 (five) years.

Grameenphone wishes Siddiqur Rahman good luck as he starts his first mission as a professional golfer.
