Grameenphone Ltd launched "Gpgamestore", a mobile gaming portal with the aim to enhance the mobile gaming experience of Bangladesh on 21 July 2011 at Westin. This service is exclusively available for Grameenphone subscribers.

Mahmud Hossain, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Troy Strike, Head of Content & Applications of Grameenphone, Brigadier General Md. Ahsan Habib Khan – Director General, Spectrum Division, BTRC and Kaymun Amin – MD & CEO, VU Mobile jointly inaugurated the portal.

The mobile gaming experience has garnered a lot of momentum in Bangladesh over the last couple of years. Grameenphone believes that the gpgamestore will make it easy for game-lovers to play their favorite games from anywhere in Bangladesh just by tapping their fingers.

Gpgamestore offers different online games, free trial play and monthly mobile gaming contests which is the first of its kind in Bangladesh. Interested gamers can access the website www.gpgamestore.com from their PC/laptop in order to browse through the extensive palette of categorized games, play online games, write game reviews and download games directly to their mobile phones.

This new mobile game store will also offer a wide range of games for Android and Blackberry phones along with all java supported handsets. The games can only be accessed by Grameenphone subscribers provided that they have a Grameenphone internet activated handset with browser.

Grameenphone has selected the mobile storefront and content management system of VU Mobile as the solution for their Gpgamestore. VU Mobile will also act as the master content service provider to aggregate and manage all content requirements for the portal. VU Mobile is the leading mobile Value Added Service (VAS) solution provider in Bangladesh and has been providing MVAS solutions in the market ever since 2005.
