GP's BillPay service for the subscribers of Jalalabad Gas

011 to offer increased convenience and security for paying their utility bills. BillPay is a fully secured and convenient electronic bill payment service, ensuring full transparency and automatic bill payment data posting at the utility company end.

Consumers of Jalalabad gas line in the greater Sylhet region can now pay their gas bills from their GP mobile. They can also pay at the authorized GP BillPay marked shops across Sylhet. There are 4500 BillPay outlets in Bangladesh, among them - 310 BillPay outlets are in Sylhet. BillPay is a convenient alternative solution of paying bills safely anytime and from anywhere. Currently DPDC, DESCO, Titas Gas, Bakhrabad Gas and Karnaphuli Gas consumers are enjoying BillPay. The service is also available for BPDB users in Sylhet, Rajshahi and Chittagong.

To reduce the bill payment hassles of the consumers, Grameenphone and the utility companies came up with the solution of electronic BillPay service. Grameenphone's BillPay has “universal access” for all GP and other operators’ mobile subscribers. Both GP and non-GP customers will receive an instant SMS notification when the bill is paid. BillPay users will be able to query their bill payment status by calling 1200 from any GP mobile. Whereas, non-GP customers can call 01713234567 for any BillPay related query and support.

Fast and fully automated payment data posting results in faster reconciliation and abolishes manual entry for the utility company. The system is more efficient which results in improved customer satisfaction. This shall also eliminate any errors from manual payment data processing & posting.

BillPay is a practical demonstration of joint venture by private and public sector in Bangladesh. Initiatives like this are likely to drive a positive social change towards a‘Digital Bangladesh’.
