Grameenphone distributes relief in Dhaka
Grameenphone Ltd. today distributed relief in the flood affected areas of eastern Dhaka.
With the help of Bangladesh Army and local elected representatives, Grameenphone officials today distributed cooked food (khichuri) among 5000 flood-affected people in different wards of Beraid Union of Badda Thana in Dhaka.
Additionally, 1500 family packs containing rice, lentils, edible oil, oral saline and other essentials were distributed in Satarkul union of Badda Thana and Khilgaon Thana.
M. Mahtab Ali, AGM, Administration, Promod Ranjan Karmaker, AGM, Regions, and Dr. Mohammad Shahnawaz, Head of HSE of Grameenphone, along with Major Zia, Commanding officer of Badda Army Camp, and other Grameenphone officials were present during the relief distribution.
Grameenphone is also planning to set up five medical camps and a mobile medical camp on a boat in Badda and Khilgaon thanas. These medical camps will provide treatments for different water-borne diseases in the flood affected areas.
Another medical camp will be established at Sirajgonj city next week.
Grameenphone has joined the flood relief operation on August 5 with the help of the joint forces, local government officials, CSR partners and NGO's. Many GP officials are working voluntarily in the relief distribution effort. So far, the company has distributed relief materials including food and other essential items worth over Tk One crore in the flood-affected areas of different districts in Dhaka, Rajshahi and Sylhet divisions.
In addition, Grameenphone has contributed Tk. 4.31 crore to the Chief Adviser's Relief Fund.
