Grameenphone to sponsor National Women Cricket Team
Grameenphone Ltd. is sponsoring the National Women Cricket Team's first foreign tour. The team is leaving Dhaka soon to participate in the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Women's Tournament 2007 in Malaysia.
This was announced at a press conference today held at Mirpur Sher E Bangla Stadium. Syed Farhad Ahmed, Member Secretary of Commercial Committee, Rafiqul Islam, Joint Secretary & Chairman of Grounds & Facilities, Fahima Hossain Jubilee, Chairman, Women Wing of Bangladesh Cricket Board and Ferdousur Rahman, Deputy General Manager of Market Communication, of Grameenphone Ltd. were present at the press conference.
Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Women's Tournament 2007 will be starting on July 11, 2007. Bangladesh will play with UAE in their first match on inauguration day. Besides Bangladesh, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand, Nepal, UAE, Singapore and China are also participating in the tournament.
The Bangladesh team will be visiting Thailand to play two practice one day matches before they go to Malaysia for the ACC tournament.
Grameenphone is supporting the development of cricket in Bangladesh since its inception and currently the sponsor of National Cricket Team. It is also the sponsor of National Cricket Academy.
