Concerned over the prevalent cold weather, Grameenphone Ltd. has started distributing blankets from December 26, 2011.
Under the initiative, Grameenphone is distributing 7,700 blankets in Northern Bangladesh and Khulna region. The blankets are being distributed with the help of local administration.
Over 2500 blankets were distributed at Kamarkhol and Shutarkhali of Khulna and another 1000 blankets were distributed at Patgram of Lalmonirhat district. Shushilan and TMSS were local partners in the respective areas. More blankets will be distributed in Gaibandha, Chapainowabganj, Naogaon Dinajpur, Kurigram and Nilphamari through TMSS and a local NGO Kanchan Samity..
