Grameenphone Prothom Alo Internet Utshab grand finale held

The grand finale of Grameenphone Prothom Alo Internet Utshab held today amid fanfare and enthusiasm with a vow to spread the power the internet nationwide.
The two-day grand final held at the GP house in the city also declared Sadid Alam of Gopalgonj Government Bangabandhu College, the I-genius grand master 2011 among the 102 contestants who took part at a series of challenging contest rounds at the two-day grand finale. An i-Conference was held on the first day of the grand finale to discuss various dimensions of internet.

Minister for Posts and Telecommunications Raiuddin Ahmed Raju was present as the chief guest and handed over crests and certificates among the participants.

The i-genius grandmaster will receive an education grant of BDT 100,000 from Grameenphone along with a study trip to Oslo for visiting Telenor and Opera Headquarters, sponsored by Opera, the browsing partner of the i-genius festival.

On the other hand, top 10 finalists were presented with Crystal Handset while rest other i-genius were awarded with crest and certificates. Moreover, Grameenphone announced Free Internet usage during 2012 for 102 i-Geniuses.

Earlier, Grameenphone in collaboration with leading Bangla Daily Prothom Alo launched the internet festival with the objective to spread the power of internet among the students, their parents and teachers. The month long festival ended on November 3 after completing 102 events at schools and colleges at rural and semi-urban locations all over Bangladesh. More than 3, 00,000 people visited in those events with utmost enthusiasm.

Addressing the grand finale, Telecoms minister Rajiuddin Ahmed Raju praised Grameenphone and Prothom Alo for organizing this kind of events to build awareness on internet.

He said this kind of events will help the present government's goal to build a‘Digital Bangladesh’.

Among other, BTRC chairman Zia Ahmed, PS-1 to Hon'ble Prime Minister & National Project Director, A2I Program Nazrul Islam Khan, Deputy Editor of Prothom Alo, Anisul Haque, Chief Executive of Grameenphone Tore Johnson and Chief Communication officer Kazi Monirul Kabir spoke at the occasion.
