Celebrating the Culture of Reading in Barishal

The Grameenphone–Bishwa Sahitya Kendra (BSK) Book Reading Prize Giving Ceremony 2026 in Barishal brought together thousands of young readers, educators, parents, and community members in a remarkable celebration of knowledge, learning, and the joy of reading.

More than 5,000 participants, including 2,776 award-winning students from 35 schools, joined the event, reflecting the growing enthusiasm for cultivating reading habits among the younger generation.

The ceremony was honored by the presence of distinguished guests, including Dr. Abul Nur Tushar, Writer, Researcher & Trustee of Bishwa Sahitya Kendra, Md. Jahangir Hossain, Director (Operations), Directorate of Secondary & Higher Education, Md. Shahinur Rahman, Regional Head, Barishal Region of Grameenphone, and Mr. M A Muhit, Everest conqueror.

Beyond recognizing outstanding young readers, the event also showcased Grameenphone's commitment to digital empowerment through its Internet Safety Awareness Corner. Students, parents, and teachers enthusiastically participated in interactive activities focused on safe and responsible online practices, highlighting the importance of digital literacy in today's connected world.
