Grameenphone launches IVR News Service
Grameenphone in association with SSL Wireless, one of the leading content application developers in Bangladesh, has launched the nation's first aggregated Interactive Voice Response (IVR) News Service for its subscribers on April 25, 2012 at Lakeshore Hotel, Gulshan.
This innovative IVR News Service will enable Grameenphone subscribers to hear news in IVR format from 12 media houses by dialing 22000 at any time throughout the day. The subscriber will have the option of choosing any media house by selecting the respective number. 22000 will be the unique short code for the prominent media houses.
The 12 media houses which are involved in this unique service are the Daily Prothom Alo, the Daily Star, bdnews24.com, ATN Bangla, Channel i, NTV, RTV, BanglaVision, Maasranga Television, Boishakhi TV, Independent TV and BBC Bangla.
Mr. Taimur Rahman, Director Regulatory Affairs and Mr. Azizul Abedin, DGM Content and Application, from Grameenphone along with Syed Mohammad Kamal, CEO and Anisul Islam, GM from SSL Wireless were present at the launch of the service. Notable personalities from all the media houses and TV channels also graced the occasion.
This is the first time that so many media houses are integrating together under one single platform. It will give the media houses the opportunity to reach out to the thousands of people who hawkers fail to reach to and to those who do not have cable connectivity.
Furthermore, this service will undoubtedly be a bold step in fulfilling the dream of a Digital Bangladesh.
Grameenphone has ways worked towards making it easy for subscribers to get information on different issues such as Health, Education, and Community Health amongst other through its different development initiative and this new service will help subscribers get news and be more connected with the nation and world with much ease.
