Spectrum re-arrangement in 1800 MHz band
Grameenphone and other mobile operators of Bangladesh are going to re-arrange their frequencies in 1800 MHz band so that all operators can have continuous band instead of current split bands.
Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (BTRC) has initiated this process to make the operator more efficient. Earlier frequencies were distributed among the operators in a scattered manner which rendered a significant amount of frequencies unusable. The initiative will allow each operator to use all of their frequencies of 1800 MHz band in a single segment which will ensure efficient use of spectrum.
We would like thank BTRC and all relevant stakeholders for initiating this important process to improve the quality of mobile telephone service in Bangladesh.
To avoid any discomfort of the customers the re-arrangement process will be under taken during the early hours of May 4, 2012 and major works are expected to be completed by 7 am of the same date. Grameenphone has taken all necessary precaution to cope with any unexpected problem arising at the time of implementation.
We would like to assure our customers that if they face any problem in the network that will be very temporary in nature.
