Futurenation 2026&nbsp;Futurenation is a pioneering Public Private Development Partnership (PPDP) launched in November 2021 by Grameenphone, UNDP Bangladesh, and BIDA to expand economic opportunities for youth across Bangladesh. The initiative equips young people with future-ready skills, employment linkages, and entrepreneurship pathways, bridging the gap between education and the evolving job market. By 2025, Futurenation had become one of the country’s most inuential multi-stakeholder youth development platforms, reaching over 200,000 youth and delivering more than 66,000 certi­cations. It also led the Youth Entrepreneurship Expo at the Bangladesh Investment Summit 2025, attended by the Chief Adviser, Grameenphone CEO, Head of Telenor Asia, BIDA Chair, and UNDP Resident Representative. It also introduced HarvardX specialisation courses across 75 tertiary institutions and the British Council Social and Business Communication course for Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB) students, boosting future-ready skills and employability.

A future skills academy for the youth of Bangladesh

The world is changing fast, and the only way to keep pace is through continuous investment in skills. Grameenphone is committed to building a future-ready Bangladesh by upskilling youth with the knowledge and tools they need to excel on the global stage.&nbsp;Launched on May of 2022, Grameenphone Academy plays a central role in this journey by training Bangladesh’s vast and promising youth population and preparing them for the industries of the future. Through in-depth training focusing on digital, entrepreneurial, freelancing capabilities &amp; AI trends, learners are groomed to push beyond traditional norms and stand tall in both local and global markets. So far, the Academy has reached over 120,000 unique students, with more than 247,000 enrolments and 120,000+ certifications awarded.&nbsp;With limited opportunities in an increasingly competitive job market and rising aspirations among young people, Grameenphone Academy launched Freelancing Factory, a mentor-led program designed to equip students with freelancing skills and connect them to global opportunities. Engaging participants from all across Bangladesh, it was launched in November 2024, and 52 participants have earned a combined total of over $75,000, with the highest individual income reaching over $14,000.&nbsp;To prepare youth for the next frontier of work, Grameenphone Academy has also introduced AI Mission, an ambitious initiative to equip 10,000 youth with artificial intelligence skills within just six months. Since 2014, GP Accelerator has advanced sustainable economic development by strengthening Bangladesh’s early-stage startup ecosystem, supporting 50+ ventures and contributing to nearly 500,000 jobs nationwide. In 2025, the “Jelay Jelay Smart Uddokta” programme expanded innovation beyond major cities by activating 30+ regional startup hubs and delivering structured bootcamps across districts, promoting inclusive access to entrepreneurial opportunity. We have wrapped the programme with a Gala night bringing together the 20 entrepreneurs, showcasing their innovation, facilitating meaningful investment connections, and supporting their future growth journey. Since initiation, the initiative has trained 5,250+ entrepreneurs to transform early-stage ideas into investment-ready ventures, fostering local value creation and resilient economic growth. Its impact culminated at the Bangladesh Investment Summit &amp; Youth Expo 2025, where 20 selected innovators engaged with 1,500+ investors, donors, and corporate leaders, strengthening pathways for scale and sustainable partnerships. Recognised with the Telecom &amp; Digital Innovation Award 2025 by the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission, the programme demonstrates GP Accelerator’s commitment to inclusive innovation, ecosystem development, and long-term socioeconomic impact for Bangladesh.

<div class="custom-page-basic-font-size source-sans-pro">Over the last four years Grameenphone has been working to bring the female representation towards a better balance with focused efforts from project Gender Diversity. Through collaborative and focused drive from project team members, GP’s leaders and management team, year on year we have achieved a gradual positive movement in the curve from 2018. To achieve results Grameenphone takes a structured approach, taking one sprint at a time, focused on activities such as female talent hunt, rigorous recruitment in New Business Leader roles in the Digital and Commercial functions, introducing structured learning paths to guide females towards critical skill building, creating more champion Extended Management Team (EMT) leaders in the organization and of course the continued efforts for creating an inclusive environment through more open dialogues.&nbsp;With these efforts combined, now, we land on the highest peak of female ratio Grameenphone has ever had, 17.02% as of 1st January 2022. We will continue to drive this journey in full momentum to reach higher milestones and to set the standards of Gender diversity &amp; Inclusion in Grameenphone as a benchmark in the local market and beyond. Only by gaining a better balance can we move forward as a company and as a nation.</div>

<div class="custom-page-basic-font-size source-sans-pro">Although Bangladesh have been producing only 0.56% of the global emissions that are changing our climate, according to Germanwatch’s 2021 Global Climate Risk Index (CRI) the country is one of the most climate change vulnerable country. This threat is not an abstract one. The data shows that from 2000 to 2019, Bangladesh suffered economic losses worth $3.72 billion and witnessed 185 extreme weather events due to climate change.In Grameenphone, we are continuously striving to minimise the environmental impact of our operations. Our ongoing programme focuses on four areas –i) &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; reduction of carbon emissionsii) &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; creation of employee awarenessiii) &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; adoption of green practices, andiv)&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; societal advocacy to create awareness.The Company adopted an EMS in 2010 in accordance with ISO 14001. Our EMS policy provides the framework for setting and reviewing our environmental objectives and targets.Grameenphone has set a target to reduce 50% carbon emissions (CO₂) by 2030, taking 2019 emissions as the baseline.In 2021, Grameenphone had converted 36 tower sites with Generator+Solar to Commercial Power/ Grid electricity +Solar Hybrid sites. These Hybrid sites will provide additional savings of 197,100 litres of fuel reducing 263 tons of CO₂ emission annually.Grameenphone also upgraded 2,500 sites with Li-ion batteries in 2021. These sites are now running on battery back-up instead of generator power during grid unavailability. This Li-ion battery solution will help the Company reduce 291 tons of CO₂ emission. Besides the above mentioned activities, Grameenphone also initiated several programmes to reduce CO₂ emission through energy efficiency, limiting the use of valuable resources, reducing travel requirements for operations, and lastly creating greater environmental awareness among employees and stakeholders.Conserving water: Reduce our water footprint and enhance water availability in the communities where we operate. Ambition Maintaining 100% wastewater recycling every year. In 2021, Grameenphone was able to reduce 6% water usage compared to 2020.Waste management: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle (The 3R’s) policy helps to reduce e-waste as well as general waste and conserve natural resources. Grameenphone is prioritising efficient waste management and supporting a circular economy. As of 31st December 2021, more than 91 tons of e-waste (GSM, microwave antennas, and other electronic accessories) has been recycled through our recycling partner. Recycling is completed in Bangladesh and abroad in accordance with ISO 14000, OSHAS 18000, and R2 standards. Also recycling of 100% used lead acid batteries has been set as our internal key performance indicator (KPI). In 2021, Grameenphone has recycled more than 80,000 old lead acid batteries.</div>
