Grameenphone’s GP Music launched to revolutionize Bangladesh music industry

Grameenphone launched a new digital music platform named “GP Music” that is expected to revolutionize the Bangladeshi music industry today at Westin Dhaka.

“GP Music” which will host thousands of Bangla songs - a rich collection of both classic hits and exclusive new releases aiming to help music lovers and musicians to bring back the glory of the pre-piracy era.

Due to death of the cassette/CD culture and widespread piracy, it has become equally difficult for artists to get duly compensated for all their hard work. As a result, the industry has been on a downtrend for quite a while. Grameenphone wants to break this hopeless trend and give artists the respect they deserve. GP Music will encourage true music lovers to pay for original music as it will be very user-friendly, will be extremely light on their pockets and most importantly, will exclusively host new releases by the most popular and legendary musicians. Songs will be available at prices as low as BDT 5/song download and BDT 40/album download.

During the launch, Grameenphone announce the launch of a total of 15 Eid exclusive albums which will be exclusively available only from GP Music platform. On the occasion, GP CMO Yasir Azman said “GP Music is a new beginning. We sincerely hope that all the artists and our valued listeners will stand beside us in this initiative. We believe that, the affordable prices of GP Music tracks will drastically bring down piracy. This digital music platform is also aligned with our ambition of providing Internet for All in Bangladesh”

Leading artists and band groups were present at the launch event to demonstrate their support towards this endeavor. Among others Grameenphone’s Director Marketing Nehal Ahmed, Director Product Hasibul Haque, Head of External Communications Sayed Talat Kamal and Deputy Director Marketing Sajid Rizwan Matin were present on the occasion. In the event, Mohammad Muntasir Hossain, head of VAS & Digital Services gave the audience a live demo of the newly launched GP Music platform.

GP Music eid releases are – Azam Khan Golden Collections, Ayub Bachchu’s solo album Jiboner Golpo, Miles’s Protichchobi, Mila’s Uncensored, Topu’s Dekha Hobe Boley, Mehreen’s Seven, Asif Iqbal’s mixed double albums Cholo Ontoheen and Ami Chuye Dilei, Feedback’s Ekhon, Kanak Chapa’s Padma Pukur, Tausif’s Ayojon, Enamul Karim Nirjhor’s mixed album Ek Nirjhorer Gaaan, Shuvro Deb’s Golden Collections and Alauddin Ali’s Golden Collections.

Now GP customers can visit music.grameenphone.com to download their favorite track. An android app will be available on Google Play store very soon. GP Music signifies a shared vision, a movement to challenge and change the status quo. It’s one huge step towards reviving Bangladeshi music industry.
